Lead Software Engineer / Chapter Lead

About the role

The company is looking for an experienced Lead Software Engineer / Chapter Lead who combines strong hands-on technical expertise with engineering leadership. The role suits someone passionate about building scalable backend platforms, mentoring engineers and driving engineering standards across multiple teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build scalable backend services, APIs and cloud-native applications.
• Lead development using at least two of Python, Node.js, C# or Go, and drive architecture decisions for microservices, distributed systems and event-driven platforms.
• Establish best practices for coding, testing, security, performance and production readiness.
• Partner with Product, Architecture, DevOps and Engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Lead technical reviews, code reviews, knowledge-sharing sessions and technical interviews.
• Support hiring, onboarding, capability development and engineering growth initiatives.
• Design and deploy applications on AWS, and build and manage containerized solutions with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Develop event-driven systems with Kafka and work with DevOps/SRE teams to improve CI/CD, monitoring and reliability.

Required profile

• 10+ years of software engineering experience focused on backend development and platform engineering.
• Proven experience leading engineers through mentoring, code reviews and technical design reviews.
• Experience defining engineering standards, governance processes and technical direction across multiple teams.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, and experience supporting technical hiring and onboarding.
• Preferred: previous experience as a Lead Software Engineer, Technical Lead, Chapter Lead or Engineering Manager; Agile environment experience; AWS cloud certification.
