Lead AI Engineer (Python) - Remote

About the role

BairesDev, a technology consultancy with more than 15 years of experience and a remote-first team of 4,000+ engineers, is hiring a Lead AI Engineer (Python). You will guide the technical direction and implementation of advanced AI solutions, working with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to build reliable, production-grade applications based on retrieval and modeling architectures.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of scalable, high-performance AI systems and data retrieval pipelines.
• Build robust, high-performance APIs that expose AI capabilities to downstream enterprise applications.
• Establish best practices for deploying, monitoring and maintaining intelligent services in production.
• Mentor engineering team members and align technical strategy with business objectives.
• Work with stakeholders to turn complex requirements into solid architectural designs.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, AI engineering or a related field.
• Proven expertise in building and optimizing RAG systems, including vector stores, retrieval strategies and embedding pipelines.
• Experience deploying LLM APIs in production and applying MLOps practices such as model registry and observability.
• Experience mentoring teams and aligning with stakeholders; advanced English.

Required skills

• Strong Python, including asynchronous APIs with FastAPI, Pydantic and async SQLAlchemy.
• RAG systems, vector stores and embedding pipelines.
• LLM API deployment and MLOps (model registry, observability).
