Lead AI Engineer

About the role

A senior, hands-on engineer is sought to design, build and enhance AI-powered applications that solve real business challenges. The role spans software engineering, cloud technologies and applied AI, delivering solutions from concept to production while helping establish scalable best practices across the technology portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end solution delivery, from discovery and architecture through deployment, monitoring and ongoing support.
• Design and implement AI-powered features, including LLM integrations, RAG workflows, orchestration, guardrails and structured outputs.
• Build and maintain scalable full-stack applications, APIs and integrations across application, AI and data platforms.
• Develop reusable frameworks, components, deployment patterns and engineering standards.
• Establish testing and evaluation frameworks for software quality, AI reliability, performance and scalability.
• Implement observability, monitoring and troubleshooting across applications, integrations and AI services.
• Embed security, compliance, identity management and data protection into solution design.
• Optimize application performance, cloud costs, AI model usage, latency and infrastructure efficiency.
• Partner with business stakeholders and UI/UX teams to deliver intuitive solutions.
• Provide technical leadership through architecture reviews, code reviews, mentoring and cross-functional collaboration.

Required profile

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with ownership of production systems and key technical decisions.
• Proven experience delivering AI-powered applications and features in production.
• Ability to balance performance, scalability, security, user experience and cost.
• Strong problem-solving skills, ownership mindset and ability to navigate ambiguity.
• Excellent communication skills and experience collaborating across engineering, product and business teams.

Required skills

• Full-stack development with JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Next.js, APIs and enterprise data integrations.
• Backend expertise in C#/.NET or similar, including distributed systems and integration patterns.
• Hands-on experience with Azure or other major cloud platforms, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, containers and production monitoring.
• Knowledge of LLM-based application design, including prompt engineering, RAG, model integration, evaluation and monitoring.
• Preferred: Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Services, Snowflake, observability and distributed tracing, design systems, accessibility, and Python for AI development.
