HR Compliance Specialist – Employment Regulations & Unemployment Claims

About the role

The HR Compliance Specialist supports employment compliance across federal, state, and local regulations. Working through the HR case management system, the role handles employee inquiries, processes unemployment claims, and assists with audit programs to safeguard the organization’s compliance posture.

Key responsibilities

• Provide support via the HR case management (ticketing) system for employee questions related to compliance programs, policies, and procedures.
• Process and manage unemployment claims through state agency portals, reviewing documentation, responding to agency requests, and ensuring timely, compliant submissions.
• Execute and monitor internal audit programs to verify adherence to employment and regulatory standards.
• Collect, maintain, and analyze data from primary and secondary sources to identify trends and recommend efficiency improvements.
• Handle sensitive employee information discreetly and escalate issues to minimize risk.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED; B2+ English proficiency.
• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Labor Law, Business, or related field preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience in HR with a focus on employment compliance activities.
• Familiarity with federal, state, and local employment laws and compliance requirements.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical ability, and effective communication skills.

Required skills

• Experience with ServiceNow or similar case‑management/ticketing platforms.
