Finance Director

About the role

The Finance Director leads financial management and controllership for Country Day School, an international K‑12 institution in Costa Rica. Reporting to the School Leadership Team and working closely with regional and group finance, the role ensures accurate reporting, strong internal controls, and strategic financial guidance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead month‑end close, produce management accounts, financial statements and performance reports.
• Oversee statutory accounts in compliance with local GAAP, IFRS and Group policies.
• Manage internal and external audit processes, including planning, documentation and follow‑up.
• Develop and maintain robust financial controls, risk mitigation and governance frameworks.
• Prepare financial reports, variance analyses, cash flow forecasts and KPI dashboards for strategic decision‑making.
• Drive cost‑optimization initiatives, vendor and contract management, tax compliance and working‑capital management.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and long‑term financial planning aligned with the school’s strategic priorities.

Required profile

• Senior finance professional with extensive experience in financial reporting, audit and compliance.
• Proven ability to lead finance teams in complex, multi‑entity environments.
• Strong analytical mindset with excellent communication skills for senior stakeholders.
• Experience in education or international organizations is a plus.
