English Department Coordinator

About the role

FundaVida is a non-profit organization that empowers at-risk youth in high-risk communities through bilingual education, robotics training, leadership development and emotional counseling, reaching over 500 young people across three communities. It is looking for an English Department Coordinator to lead and manage its English language education programs. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Costa Rica.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the English language education programs offered by FundaVida.
• Coach and support teachers.
• Evaluate program effectiveness.
• Teach classes and work closely with students, families and the community.
• Maintain quality standards while ensuring cultural sensitivity and fostering positive student outcomes.

Required profile

• Degree in English Teaching, Education or a related field.
• C1/B2 level certified by TOEFL, TOEIC or Cambridge exams.
• Availability to work in the southern area of San José (Hatillo, Alajuelita and Linda Vista).
• Availability to work from Tuesday to Saturday.
• Experience working in high social risk communities is desirable.

Required skills

• Strong leadership and organizational skills to oversee program development and manage teaching staff.
• Proficiency in teaching methodologies, classroom management and student engagement techniques.
