Data Steward

About the role

We are looking for an experienced, detail‑oriented Data Steward to lead enterprise data governance and quality initiatives. The role is an independent contributor position responsible for ensuring that data assets are trusted, well‑governed, and readily accessible across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end data lineage from ERP systems through RAW, consumable, and KPI layers, guaranteeing traceability and alignment with governance standards.
• Maintain and curate data assets in the data.world catalog, ensuring accurate classification, documentation, and contextual enrichment.
• Define, implement, and enforce metadata standards, including business definitions, lineage, and transformation logic.
• Partner with business and technical stakeholders to identify and steward critical data elements (CDEs) across all layers.
• Develop and maintain data quality rules, validations, controls, and scorecards for each transformation stage.
• Use SQL and Python for data profiling, validation, reconciliation, and anomaly detection.
• Lead root‑cause analysis and resolution of data quality issues, collaborating with engineering and business teams.
• Establish proactive monitoring and automated checks to detect and prevent data defects early in the pipeline.

Required profile

• Proven experience in data governance, metadata management, and data quality assurance.
• Strong understanding of data lifecycle management from source systems to analytical outputs.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross‑functional teams.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
