Collections & Cash Application Supervisor

About the role

The Collections & Cash Application Supervisor leads a team responsible for managing collections, cash application, and reconciliation across the accounts receivable portfolio. This office‑based position in Costa Rica focuses on improving cash flow, reducing unapplied cash, and ensuring accurate financial records.

Key responsibilities

• Set team priorities, monitor KPI performance, and coach team members for development.
• Handle escalations for high‑risk, delinquent, or complex accounts and coordinate with legal teams when needed.
• Oversee collection activities, payment follow‑ups, and reconciliation across customer segments and sales channels.
• Negotiate payment plans, resolve complex payment disputes, and ensure accurate matching of incoming payments to invoices.
• Lead initiatives to automate workflows using Power Automate and RPA solutions, and drive continuous improvement of internal controls.
• Collaborate with Finance, Commercial, and Operations teams to resolve cross‑functional issues and streamline processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• More than five years of experience in collections, credit, or cash application within accounts receivable operations.
• Proven experience leading and managing a team.
• Strong analytical skills with a focus on compliance and internal control standards.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
• Availability to work onsite in Costa Rica and C1 level English proficiency.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
• Experience with reconciliation tools.
• Knowledge of automation tools like Power Automate and RPA solutions.
