Buyer III – Procurement Specialist

About the role

The Buyer III will support Abbott’s Electrophysiology division in Alajuela, Costa Rica, ensuring that all materials, services and supplies are sourced competitively and delivered on time. Working Monday‑to‑Friday, 8:00‑17:00, the role combines supplier management, strategic sourcing and inventory planning to keep production running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain long‑term supplier partnerships; monitor performance and drive corrective actions.
• Lead supplier evaluations, continuous‑improvement initiatives and resolve quality issues together with SQE and vendors.
• Manage sourcing and quoting activities for goods and services, supporting cost‑effective procurement strategies.
• Plan and schedule deliveries, maintain optimal inventory levels, and work with inventory control to resolve discrepancies.
• Provide material support for new product development projects and coordinate returns, replacements and credit for non‑conforming goods.
• Maintain supplier databases and ensure accurate record‑keeping and data integrity.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in procurement, supply chain or materials management.
• Strong analytical and negotiation abilities with a focus on cost reduction and efficiency.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with internal teams and external suppliers.
