Business Analyst – Operations (Finance Services)

About the role

The Business Analyst – Operations will support AstraZeneca’s Global Financial Services (GFS) by providing financial analysis, month‑end close, and planning support to manufacturing and quality sites across the Americas. The role works closely with finance business partners and embedded finance teams to ensure accurate reporting and actionable insights.

Key responsibilities

• Provide cost analysis, inventory, and capital expenditure support to Biologics and Small Molecules manufacturing sites.
• Perform monthly journal entries, accruals, re‑classifications and variance analysis for manufacturing variances and stock provisions.
• Execute month‑end close activities, financial reporting and deliver business‑insightful commentary for management packs.
• Analyse manufacturing, manpower, OPEX, logistics and inventory variances on a weekly/monthly basis and communicate findings to site finance.
• Lead planning cycle processes (site cost, inventory, logistics, capex) and ensure alignment with AZ guidelines.
• Maintain SOX and non‑SOX month‑end controls, collaborate with internal and external auditors, and document key processes.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives, update process documentation and provide backup for other analysts.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years experience in accounting, cost analysis or FP&A within an operations environment.
• Proficiency in English (verbal and written) with the ability to explain financial concepts to non‑financial stakeholders.
• Experience in at least three core operations processes (manufacturing, site cost, product costing, inventory, or capex).
• Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals (accruals, cost centres, budgeting).
• Flexibility to work holidays, travel to other AZ facilities and hold a valid US visa and passport.
