Backend Software Engineer (Internet Services Simulation)

About the role

SimSpace is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to design, deploy, and operate the simulated internet services layer of its cyber‑range platform. You will create a catalog of fake and real SaaS applications that red and blue teams can interact with, making the simulated internet indistinguishable from the real one at the application layer.

Key responsibilities

• Design and run Kubernetes‑based automation for deploying a heterogeneous set of simulated services, including health monitoring and lifecycle management.
• Build content‑seeding pipelines that scrape, transform, and inject realistic data (code repositories, social posts, email threads) into the simulated services.
• Own the authoritative DNS infrastructure for all simulated domains, ensuring correct mail and sender‑authentication records.
• Develop and maintain email delivery infrastructure that supports realistic and adversarial email scenarios.

Required profile

• Strong bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish for written, virtual, and in‑person communication.
• Hands‑on experience deploying and operating containerised services in Kubernetes and managing self‑hosted open‑source platforms.
• Working knowledge of DNS operation, zone delegation, and email authentication mechanisms.
