Backend Developer (Payments)

About the role

Plan A Technologies is seeking a Backend Developer specialized in payments to design, build and scale high‑performance transaction processing systems. You will work on secure backend services, real‑time data pipelines and containerised workflows while collaborating with product, finance and engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain secure backend services for transaction processing, ledgers and financial integrations.
• Implement real‑time data pipelines and manage event‑driven architectures using Kafka.
• Design and operate distributed, containerised cron jobs and background workflows on Kubernetes.
• Identify bottlenecks, optimise performance and ensure high availability of core services.
• Partner with product managers, finance teams and engineering stakeholders to deliver high‑quality software solutions.

Required profile

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong expertise in backend development with Go (Golang).
• Proven experience with event streaming and message brokers such as Kafka.
• Hands‑on experience designing and managing PostgreSQL schemas and query optimisation.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
