Supplier Quality Engineer II

About the role

Abbott’s Vascular Division in Alajuela is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer II to improve the quality of components and services sourced from external suppliers. You will provide technical support for supplier selection, monitor performance, and drive corrective actions to ensure reliable product delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with corporate and divisional quality policies.
• Assess new suppliers for technical, quality, and manufacturing capabilities.
• Provide technical support for introducing components from new suppliers.
• Evaluate, monitor, and approve external suppliers based on qualifications and performance.
• Analyze incoming material defects, communicate issues, and drive corrective/preventive actions.
• Generate test protocols, monitor testing, issue qualification reports, and approve components for use.
• Develop and maintain incoming inspection procedures and component specifications.
• Train inspectors on procedures and mentor junior staff.
• Supervise technical personnel as needed and meet daily production goals.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or equivalent.
• 1‑2 years of experience in an engineering‑related role.
• Intermediate proficiency in English.
