SQL Database Administrator

About the role

The SQL Database Administrator will own the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server environments. This hands‑on role requires strong technical expertise combined with excellent communication skills to support both COTS and custom‑built OLTP applications.

Key responsibilities

• Manage SQL Server databases across development, testing, and production lifecycles.
• Configure and monitor database servers to ensure high performance, availability, and security.
• Apply data‑modeling techniques and refine schemas to meet integration and performance goals.
• Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve database issues in real time, including query tuning and indexing.
• Provide 24x7 support for mission‑critical systems and perform after‑hours maintenance and release deployments.
• Automate routine processes, track incidents, and document changes.
• Mentor peers, share expertise, and contribute to continuous process improvement.
• Recommend architecture improvements based on Microsoft SQL Server best practices.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience administering Microsoft SQL Server.
• Proven ability in performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting using native tools.
• Hands‑on experience with backups, restores, recovery models, HA/DR solutions, and Windows Server/Active Directory.
• Experience supporting SSRS and SSIS environments.
• Flexible, team‑oriented, and able to work independently in a fast‑changing environment.
