Senior SAP ABAP Developer

About the role

The Senior SAP ABAP Developer drives the design and delivery of scalable application solutions that turn business needs into efficient, future-ready systems. The role covers designing, developing, configuring, testing and implementing applications, maintaining and optimizing existing ones, and acting as a strategic partner to stakeholders. It emphasizes design and higher-level analytical skills.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare high-level designs and detailed specifications used to configure software packages, build integrations and write programs.
• Implement technical solutions by configuring software packages or writing code, with performance in mind.
• Partner with vendors on the development, configuration and integration of COTS software and custom code, and develop integration requirements.
• Develop and execute testing and implementation plans, performing unit, system, integration and user acceptance testing and documenting results.
• Apply formal methodologies, participate in project planning, and take responsibility for projects of limited scope, including guiding others.
• Resolve production system problems 24x7 and provide day-time and after-hours on-call support.

Required profile

• 4-year bachelor's degree in Computer Science.
• 5+ years of experience in the role.
• C1 (advanced) English.
• Knowledge of SAP ECC Retail and SAP SRM/IP functional or development experience; SAP BW development.

Required skills

• Strong background in ABAP programming and broad knowledge of SAP ECC development.
• Preferrable: SAP transport system, SAP debug tools, and SAP ECC Retail.
• Integration skills: installation, deployment, customization and integration of COTS packages.
• Testing at all levels, testing tools (including automated testing) and debugging tools.
• Familiarity with systems development life cycles and methodologies, and with a suite of COTS software packages.
• Preferrable: Perl, MQ Series, EI, Java, JavaScript, Linux, SQL, XML, webservices, relational databases, data warehouse/mart, BI, caching, APIs, C, Struts, WebSphere, OB2, Oracle, SQL Server, Eclipse, RAD, and source control and issue tracking.
