Senior Program Manager

About the role

Smith & Nephew is looking for a Senior Program Manager to lead a portfolio of strategic technology programs, ensuring successful delivery, compliance and business alignment. The role develops and leads Project Managers, manages risks and dependencies, and acts as the escalation point for project issues.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with enterprise, IT standards, the Portfolio and Project Management Office (PPMO) and the Solution Delivery methodology (SDM).
• Align business goals, project activities, governance and delivery standards, and drive process improvements, measurable value, quality and timely problem resolution.
• Lead Program and Project Managers, including their development and performance management.
• Engage stakeholders across the organisation so projects are properly planned, funded, resourced and managed, with benefits realised.
• Manage cross-functional program and project risks, issues and dependencies.
• Maintain transparent, timely communication with program stakeholders.
• Take overall responsibility for budget and its impact on corporate profitability.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field; MBA preferred.
• 10+ years of project or program management experience, including leadership and coaching of senior PMs.
• Experience delivering large Business-IT programs with measurable improvements, preferably in healthcare, life sciences or another regulated industry.
• Proven ability to manage remote teams, turn strategy into action plans and lead organisational change.
• Strong business and financial acumen, awareness of governance and security practices, and effective English communication and negotiation skills.

Required skills

• Agile (Scrum/SAFe) and/or PMP certification preferred.
