Senior PHP Engineer (Laravel + AWS)

About the role

A company is looking for a Senior PHP Engineer with strong experience building and maintaining production applications. The role is primarily backend-focused but also contributes within a full-stack environment when needed. It calls for deep PHP and Laravel expertise, strong API and backend experience, AWS knowledge and the ability to make architectural and technical decisions at a senior level.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend applications and APIs using PHP and Laravel.
• Build and enhance AWS-based services and cloud infrastructure supporting the platform.
• Develop and integrate data-driven services, APIs and third-party integrations for audience engagement, data collection, segmentation and analytics.
• Contribute to the React frontend as needed, while focusing mainly on backend work.
• Take part in architecture and technical design decisions on scalability, performance, reliability and maintainability.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and improve performance, reliability and security.
• Write clean, tested code, take part in code reviews and help set engineering standards.
• Collaborate with product, engineering and other stakeholders to turn business needs into technical solutions.
• At Principal level: provide technical leadership and mentorship, help establish best practices and evolve the platform architecture as the company and data volume grow.

Required profile

• Senior/Principal-level PHP engineer with strong production experience; Laravel must be a significant part of recent work.
• Strong backend/API experience, including designing and building scalable services.
• Working knowledge of React/JavaScript and SQL/databases.
• Ability to work independently at a senior level and make architectural and technical decisions.
• Nice to have: experience with high-traffic, data-intensive or SaaS apps, media, advertising, MarTech, CRM and customer engagement platforms, and mentoring others.
