Senior AWS Platform Engineer – Contract

About the role

We are looking for a senior AWS Platform Engineer on a contract basis to lead the design, build, and migration of a large‑scale enterprise CMS platform for a membership‑association client. The role is highly technical and hands‑on, covering solution architecture, cloud infrastructure, security, networking, and production cut‑over.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end solution architecture for AWS infrastructure, networking, routing, and migration strategy.
• Define integration boundaries between platform engineering and external CMS development vendors.
• Design, deploy, and manage VPCs, subnets, peering, and environment configurations across dev, test, and prod.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub and Vercel.
• Deploy and manage Neon PostgreSQL environments.
• Configure CloudFront edge layer, implement redirect‑based routing, and set up edge security controls (AWS WAF, rate limiting, bot protection).
• Provision TLS certificates via AWS Certificate Manager.
• Lead DNS migration, launch runbooks, rollback planning, smoke testing, and post‑launch monitoring.
• Validate integrations with WordPress VIP, Salesforce, and other third‑party systems.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure, networking, and deployment issues.

Required profile

• Extensive hands‑on experience designing and operating production AWS environments.
• Deep expertise in AWS networking, VPC design, CloudFront, and security architecture.
• Proven track record leading DNS migrations and high‑traffic web cut‑overs.
• Ability to work independently as the primary infrastructure owner.
• Strong collaboration skills with vendors, development teams, and client stakeholders.
• Availability to overlap with U.S. Eastern Time, especially during launch phases.
