Payroll Director – Americas

About the role

The Payroll Director – Americas leads end‑to‑end payroll operations across nine countries, including the United States, Canada and seven Latin American markets. The role ensures payroll is processed accurately, compliantly and on time while driving operational excellence and an exceptional employee experience.

Key responsibilities

• Lead payroll delivery for the Americas, overseeing accurate, timely processing in all nine countries.
• Own operational performance, service quality, compliance and employee experience across the region.
• Ensure payroll processes meet legislative, tax and regulatory requirements.
• Manage relationships with payroll vendors and service providers, monitoring contractual service levels.
• Monitor KPIs, implement continuous‑improvement actions and drive automation.
• Develop and inspire a geographically dispersed payroll team, fostering an inclusive, high‑performing culture.
• Establish robust controls, governance frameworks and lead remediation of payroll issues.
• Support internal and external audits and ensure timely closure of audit actions.
• Partner with HR, Finance, Employment Tax, Legal, Engineering and senior stakeholders to align payroll strategy.
• Lead regional transformation initiatives, standardising processes and leveraging technology.

Required profile

• Significant experience leading large, complex payroll operations within multinational organisations.
• Extensive expertise managing US payroll in a multi‑state, multi‑national environment.
• Proven ability to build and lead high‑performing, dispersed teams.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with senior HR, Finance and Legal partners.
• Track record of driving process standardisation, automation and continuous improvement.
