Data Engineering, Cloud, and Platform Engineer

About the role

DXC is seeking a highly skilled Data Engineering, Cloud, and Platform Engineer to ensure reliability, scalability, and security across its database, server, cloud, and container environments. The role requires a proactive, hands‑on professional who can independently manage infrastructure while supporting modern application and data platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Automate infrastructure and operational processes using Python.
• Collaborate with development and analytics teams to support applications and data platforms.
• Manage and administer Windows Server and Linux (Ubuntu, RedHat) environments.
• Own and maintain Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB databases.
• Design, implement, and optimise solutions in Microsoft Azure (compute, networking, storage, monitoring).
• Build, deploy, and manage containerised environments using Docker and Kubernetes (or similar).
• Monitor system performance, availability, and security across the entire stack.
• Configure and manage network components such as proxy servers, DNS, gateways and routing.
• Ensure high‑availability, backup, and disaster‑recovery strategies.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure, database, container, and network issues end‑to‑end.
• Implement security best practices across infrastructure and cloud.
• Maintain technical documentation and operational procedures.

• Comfortable operating across infrastructure, cloud, containers, and data.
• Pragmatic problem‑solver who can translate theory into action.
• Clear communicator with strong cross‑team collaboration skills.

Required skills

• Python scripting/automation.
• Windows Server administration.
• Linux server administration (Ubuntu, RedHat).
• Database management: Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB.
• Microsoft Azure (compute, networking, storage, monitoring).
• Containerisation and orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes (or similar).
• Networking fundamentals: DNS, proxies, VPNs, gateways.
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM) – nice to have.
• CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices – nice to have.
• Monitoring tools (Azure Monitor, Prometheus, Grafana) – nice to have.
• Identity & Access Management (Azure AD) – nice to have.
