Data Engineer – Enterprise Data Platforms

About the role

Walmart Global Tech is looking for a Data Engineer II to design, build and maintain enterprise‑scale data platforms that support analytics and decision‑making for Walmart de México y Centroamérica. Based in Santa Ana, Costa Rica, you will work on‑site with cross‑functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable data pipelines.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and operate resilient data pipelines for both structured and unstructured sources.
• Translate business requirements into efficient ETL/ELT processes and data models.
• Implement data quality checks, transformations and automation to ensure trustworthy data.
• Optimize performance and cost in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Collaborate with data governance, architecture and analytics teams to align solutions with security and privacy standards.
• Maintain documentation and support operational monitoring.

Required profile

• 3–5+ years of experience in data engineering or a related field.
• Advanced English proficiency.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and building ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Strong background in SQL and Python; knowledge of Java or Scala is a plus.
