Business Unit Operations Manager – Discrete Automation

About the role

The Discrete Automation Business Manager – Application & Customer Service leads a customer‑focused team that delivers high‑quality technical support and drives growth for discrete automation solutions. Reporting to the CR Leadership Team, the role ensures seamless integration of customer service operations with application engineering while complying with company policies and industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Application & Customer Service team to provide timely, high‑quality support.
• Develop and execute strategies to expand discrete automation business opportunities.
• Collaborate with engineering and product management to align customer needs with technical solutions.
• Oversee customer service processes, ensuring rapid resolution of inquiries and issues.
• Drive continuous‑improvement initiatives in application engineering and support.
• Monitor market trends and competitor activity to identify growth opportunities.
• Prepare and present performance reports to senior management.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, industry standards, and safety regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business Administration or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum 8 years of experience in automation, engineering or customer‑service leadership.
• Proven track record of managing cross‑functional teams and delivering business growth.
• Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal abilities.
• Fluent in English and Spanish.
