Software Developer – Backend & Cloud (Remote)

About the role

TransUnion is looking for a Software Developer to join the Decisioning and Offers platform team. The role focuses on building and maintaining backend services, leveraging test‑driven development, micro‑services, and serverless cloud technologies to deliver high‑quality, continuous improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain internal tools and services using a modern tech stack.
• Write clean, reliable, well‑tested code following TDD principles.
• Create and maintain automated tests to ensure code quality and system reliability.
• Debug and resolve issues in backend systems, often collaborating directly with clients.
• Participate in architecture, design, and implementation discussions.
• Engage in code reviews and team knowledge‑sharing sessions.
• Gather requirements from clients and translate real‑world use cases into technical solutions.
• Own problems from identification through resolution.
• Use TransUnion’s internal programming language and tools to integrate external services, build datapoints, replicate calculations, and host machine‑learning models.

Required profile

• Experience coding in a backend language such as Node.js, Python, or Go.
• Basic understanding of testing practices and test automation.
• Curiosity about system design, infrastructure, and automation.
• Willingness to learn, ask questions, and improve.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset.
• Clear communication skills with teammates and clients.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, keep tickets updated, and prioritize work.
