Senior HR/People Ops Specialist – Payroll, Benefits & Compliance

About the role

Mimica is transitioning its Costa Rican workforce to a locally owned entity. As a Senior HR/People Ops Specialist you will ensure payroll, benefits and compliance processes run smoothly, accurately and at scale during this critical shift.

Key responsibilities

• Manage pre‑hire compliance, right‑to‑work checks and contract preparation.
• Process new‑joiner, leaver and employment change transactions, including contracts, amendments and salary certificates.
• Prepare, validate and submit payroll inputs; audit provider outputs and resolve discrepancies.
• Oversee social security contributions, income‑tax withholdings, cesantías and liquidaciones.
• Administer private healthcare and statutory benefit enrolments, changes and issue resolution.
• Coordinate leave management and ensure alignment with policy, systems and payroll.
• Respond to employee queries on payslips, taxes and benefits with clear guidance.
• Monitor regulatory updates (CCSS, MTSS, DGT, INSS) and implement changes proactively.
• Support audits, statutory filings and maintain clean employee data in HRIS and payroll systems.

Required profile

• Proven experience in HR services and payroll coordination.
• Strong knowledge of Costa Rican labor law and employment practices.
• Detail‑oriented with a focus on compliance and data accuracy.
• Ability to handle high‑impact operational changes and scale processes.
