Senior Application Database Administrator – Cloud Focus

About the role

Experian is seeking a Senior Application Database Administrator to design, support, and optimise cloud‑based databases that power critical applications. You will work closely with engineering, DevOps, and platform teams to ensure databases are reliable, scalable, secure, and high‑performing.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, performance, and reliability of cloud‑based, application‑facing databases.
• Partner with engineering teams to build scalable, resilient, and cost‑efficient database solutions.
• Guide best practices for database design, schema changes, and performance tuning.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, leading root‑cause analysis when needed.
• Implement standards, guardrails, and automation to improve database operations.
• Mentor team members and promote knowledge sharing across engineering and database communities.

Required profile

• 7+ years of experience in application database or DBA roles, including cloud environments.
• Strong expertise in at least one relational database platform such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud‑managed database services and modern architectures.
• Advanced skills in SQL performance tuning and troubleshooting.
• Proven ability to support production systems and make independent technical decisions.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills across diverse teams.
