On-site MEP Engineer – Luxury Project in Santa Teresa

About the role

Utopia is seeking an experienced MEP Engineer to join the on‑site team for a luxury hospitality development in Santa Teresa, Costa Rica. This full‑time position requires relocation to a local village and reports directly to the MEP Manager and Head of Construction.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support and guidance to in‑house design, quantity surveying, third‑party designers, consultants and contractors.
• Review and evaluate Electrical, HVAC and Plumbing designs to ensure compliance with project requirements and local codes.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers and project managers to optimise system integration.
• Resolve technical issues promptly during the design and construction phases.
• Monitor industry trends, codes and regulations related to MEP systems.
• Assist in managing, controlling and tracking design changes and variations according to corporate procedures.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with a focus on HVAC or mechanical systems.
• 8–15 years of experience in design consultancy or general contracting.
• Proven experience on low‑rise residential and hospitality projects (private homes, villas, hotels, resorts).
• Excellent communication and presentation skills in English.
• Detail‑oriented, punctual and self‑organized.
• Experience in Caribbean projects is a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Revit.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
