Industrial Engineering – IE Specialist I

About the role

The IE Specialist I supports multiple groups within UPS's Industrial Engineering function. The role focuses on data gathering, analysis, and reporting to aid work measurement and operational planning activities.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and analyze data to develop work measurement standards.
• Maintain operating plan data and highlight conditions for potential change.
• Verify accurate application of work measurement and conduct compliance audits.
• Document non‑compliant exceptions and develop corrective action plans.
• Assess short‑ and long‑range forecast impacts on operating plans.
• Respond to ad‑hoc reporting requests and generate statistical reports.
• Maintain forecasts, operating plans, and tracking spreadsheets.
• Develop annual staffing projections based on trend analysis.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) in Engineering or a related field, preferred.
• Experience in Industrial Engineering or related operational analysis.
• Understanding of operational barriers, process improvement, and design optimization.
• Ability to work flexible shift hours, including weekends and travel.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Access functionality, including database creation and maintenance.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, complex formulas).
• Ability to write complex queries and integrate data from multiple sources.
• Technical aptitude for resolving information‑system reporting issues.
