Water Resources Engineer

About the role

Ulteig is looking for a Water Resources Engineer to join project teams delivering local, regional and national water‑resources solutions. The engineer will apply hydraulic and hydrologic modeling techniques to support large‑scale developments such as wind and solar farms, bridges, dams and urban storm‑water systems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development of hydrologic and hydraulic models for diverse meteorological events.
• Perform design calculations for bridges, dams, levees, flood‑plain assessments, fish passage, and storm‑water BMPs.
• Create 1D/2D hydraulic models to evaluate scour, flood impacts, and river restoration projects.
• Prepare technical reports documenting design methodology and results.
• Mentor junior staff and maintain strong client relationships.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Legal authorization to work in Costa Rica.

• ArcGIS, SMS, SRH‑2D, XP‑SWMM, InfoWorks, CORMIX, FLOW‑2D
• Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
• AutoCAD (preferred)
