Transportation Specialist – Inbound/Outbound Logistics

About the role

The Transportation Specialist ensures safe, compliant, and cost‑effective movement of inbound raw materials and outbound finished goods. Working closely with carriers, supply‑chain teams, and plant operations, the role balances operational efficiency with high‑level service delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Schedule inbound and outbound freight across truck and rail modes, serving as the primary carrier contact.
• Coordinate with warehouse and production teams to align loading schedules with inventory readiness.
• Manage railcar fleet, tank trucks, ISO containers, and bulk package logistics, controlling demurrage and equipment availability.
• Enforce DOT, hazmat, and rail regulations, maintaining accurate shipping documentation and safety standards.
• Collaborate with customer service and supply‑chain planning to provide real‑time freight visibility and resolve delivery issues.
• Track freight KPIs, audit invoices, and identify process improvements to reduce logistics spend.

Required profile

• Associate degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business or related field (preferred).
• 2+ years of experience in transportation or logistics, preferably with bulk chemical shipments.
• On‑site plant presence with frequent interaction with facility teams and drivers.

Required skills

• Familiarity with ERP platforms, especially SAP.
• Experience using Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
