Transmission Line Project Engineer

About the role

An agile, high-growth engineering startup is expanding its Transmission Line team and is hiring a Transmission Line Project Engineer. The work is remote and flexible, based out of the Alajuela, Costa Rica office, with regional collaboration opportunities across Central America.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the planning, design and execution of high-voltage overhead transmission line projects (up to 765 kV).
• Manage project scope, schedule and deliverables while coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams and clients.
• Handle hands-on design tasks such as structure staking and loading, foundation design, material procurement and construction support.
• Support business development, client relations and proposal creation, and mentor junior engineers as the team scales.

Required profile

• B.S. in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering with a Professional Engineering (PE) license; a PE license in Costa Rica, Central America or the United States is preferred.
• 5 to 7+ years of relevant overhead transmission line design experience.
• Strong written and verbal English, comfortable leading client-facing meetings and multidisciplinary workflows.

Required skills

• Deep hands-on expertise in PLS-CADD; experience with PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER and AutoCAD/MicroStation is a major plus.
• Solid working knowledge of NESC, RUS and/or GO-95 standards and ASCE guidelines.
• Nice to have: field program management and subcontractor coordination, foundation design software (FAD Tools, LPILE) and GIS tools, and membership in IEEE, ASCE or CIGRE.

Expected monthly salary: $2,800 - $3,500.
