Senior Transmission Line Project Engineer

About the role

An agile, high-growth engineering startup is expanding its Transmission Line team and is looking for a Senior Transmission Line Project Engineer. The position is remote and flexible, based out of the Alajuela, Costa Rica office, with regional collaboration opportunities across Central America.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the planning, design and execution of high-voltage transmission projects up to 765 kV using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE and PLS-TOWER.
• Drive project scope, schedule, budget and QA/QC standards while coordinating multi-disciplinary teams and managing client expectations.
• Oversee structural staking, foundation design, assembly drawings, structure loading, material procurement and construction support.
• Mentor engineering talent, help drive business development and proposal creation, and represent the firm at industry conferences.

Required profile

• B.S. in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering with a Professional Engineering (PE) license; a PE license in Costa Rica, Central America or the United States is preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive overhead transmission engineering experience, including managing projects and leading technical teams.
• Solid working knowledge of NESC, RUS and/or GO-95, ASCE guidelines.
• Nice to have: field program management, subcontractor coordination, advanced cost estimating, an MBA or active membership in IEEE, ASCE or CIGRE.

Required skills

• Deep, hands-on command of PLS-CADD; PLS-POLE and PLS-TOWER experience, plus ArcGIS, AutoCAD and foundation tools such as LPILE is a major plus.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication, comfortable driving client relationships and high-stakes technical coordination.

Expected monthly salary: $4,000 - $4,500.
