Teradata Engineer

About the role

OTSI is looking for a Teradata Engineer to provide day-to-day production support for Teradata-based applications and data warehouse processes. The role covers incident investigation, query optimization, ETL support and coordination with development, infrastructure, operations and business teams.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day production support for Teradata applications and data warehouse processes.
• Investigate and resolve production incidents, data issues, failed batch jobs and performance problems.
• Develop, analyze, troubleshoot and optimize complex SQL queries in Teradata.
• Monitor and support scheduled jobs using ESP scheduling tools.
• Troubleshoot and support ETL workflows built with IBM DataStage.
• Use Linux command-line tools to review logs, run scripts, validate files and investigate failures.
• Perform root-cause analysis and document corrective and preventive actions.
• Coordinate with development, infrastructure, operations and business teams, and support releases, deployments, job restarts and production validations.
• Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures and support runbooks.
• Participate in onboarding, individually or as part of a group.

Required profile

• 3-5 years of experience in data warehousing, ETL development, application support or production support.
• Previous experience providing production or application support.
• Ability to work during U.S. daytime business hours and availability until at least year-end, with possible extension.
• Flexibility to onboard individually or as part of a larger group.
• Experience with mainframe environments and knowledge of JCL, COBOL, DB2, batch processing or mainframe job monitoring.
• Experience supporting enterprise data warehouse or banking/financial-services applications.

Required skills

• Strong hands-on experience with Teradata and strong SQL development and troubleshooting.
• ETL support or development with IBM DataStage.
• ESP scheduling or similar enterprise workload scheduling tools.
• Linux/Unix command line.
• Familiarity with incident management, root-cause analysis, change management and production release processes.
• Teradata utilities such as BTEQ, TPT, FastLoad, MultiLoad or FastExport.
