Technical Maintenance / Manufacturing Support Engineer

About the role

Edwards Lifesciences, a global structural heart innovation company, is hiring a Technician, Maintenance/Manufacturing Support Engineering in La Lima, Cartago. The role supports the validation and improvement of equipment, software and manufacturing processes through experiments, testing and documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Run experiments and tests following protocols to validate and improve equipment, software and manufacturing processes, then analyze results, recommend improvements and write reports for Engineering review.
• Operate test equipment to assess manufacturing characteristics.
• Maintain documentation for archives, including ECRs, SOPs, drawings and tooling, for Engineering approval.
• Work with Engineers, Technicians and Assemblers on experiments and production runs, and support equipment investigations, testing, product disposition evidence and rework.
• Update documentation in manufacturing software such as JDE, QMS and PLM.
• Help Engineering develop training and work instruction materials for production.
• Give feedback to Engineering on possible redesign of equipment, tools and fixtures to improve manufacturing.

Required profile

• High school diploma and a technical degree in mechanical, electronics and/or engineering, or a related field.
• Manufacturing and/or medical device experience.
• Able to read and understand English.
• Availability Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and availability to work in La Lima, Cartago.

Required skills

• Preferred: good computer skills, including MS Office Suite.
• Preferred: moderate knowledge of validating and improving automated equipment, troubleshooting manufacturing equipment, and routine preventive maintenance.
• Preferred: basic knowledge of material compatibility and electrical, mechanical, electronic, pneumatic and controls systems.
• Preferred: knowledge of Good Manufacturing and Good Documentation Practices in a medical device environment, strict attention to detail, and ability to work under limited supervision.
