Sr. Staff Platform Architect

About the role

Cloudera is looking for a visionary Sr. Staff Platform Architect to lead the greenfield development of a next‑generation Internal Developer Platform (IDP) and Event Mesh. The role blends infrastructure modernization with AI‑first development tooling, delivering a governed, self‑service platform on AWS.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and deploy a secure, multi‑tenant AWS foundation using Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) and Managed Streaming for Apache Kafka (MSK), with Istio service mesh for zero‑trust networking.
• Build the “Paved Road” by establishing zero‑touch GitOps pipelines (ArgoCD or Flux) and enforcing Infrastructure‑as‑Code through Terraform.
• Implement automated architectural and security governance using Policy‑as‑Code (OPA/Rego) integrated into CI/CD pipelines.
• Enforce data contracts with AWS Glue Schema Registry and Avro/Protobuf to ensure enterprise‑wide data governance.
• Integrate LLM API gateways into deployment pipelines to assist teams with code generation, schema translation, and automated architectural reviews.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in Cloud Infrastructure, Site Reliability Engineering, or Platform Engineering.
• Deep expertise in AWS, specifically EKS and MSK (or enterprise Apache Kafka).
• Advanced proficiency with Terraform and GitOps methodologies (ArgoCD or Flux).
• Experience writing and enforcing Policy‑as‑Code (OPA, Checkov, Kyverno).
• Strong understanding of event‑driven architectures, schema registries, and distributed tracing.
• Proven ability to treat platform engineering as a product and drive adoption across legacy development teams.
