Software Development Engineer Internship

About the role

Amazon is looking for motivated Software Development Engineer (SDE) interns to join our Costa Rica team. You will work on scalable, cloud‑native services that impact millions of customers worldwide, owning the full lifecycle of your code from design to production.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross‑disciplinary teams to design, build, and operate innovative products and services.
• Develop scalable solutions using cloud‑native architectures and microservices in a large distributed environment.
• Participate in code reviews, write clean, maintainable code, and contribute to technical documentation.
• Build resilient, fault‑tolerant systems and apply CI/CD principles in an agile setting.
• Contribute to GenAI and AI‑powered tooling to improve development productivity.
• Take part in operational duties, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and on‑call rotations.

Required profile

• Enrolled in a degree program with at least one academic term remaining after the internship.
• Ability to work full‑time (up to 30 hours/week) on‑site, Monday‑Friday, without class or other employment conflicts.
• Curious, ownership‑mindset, and comfortable managing ambiguity in fast‑paced development cycles.
