Job description
About the role
This is a freelance, remote, full-time Senior Visual Designer position. You will design website updates, user journeys and page layouts for D2C digital platforms, guiding customers through the funnel. You join the design team and are assigned to one of two delivery teams: top-of-funnel pages (homepages, campaigns, landing pages, content and product discovery) and bottom-of-funnel journeys (product and pricing pages, forms, sign-up, checkout and account flows). You own your work from brief to handover with little day-to-day supervision.
Key responsibilities
- Design website updates, new pages and layouts from brief to developer handover, across desktop and mobile.
- Map and improve user journeys for your funnel stage, find where visitors drop off and design the fix.
- Produce wireframes, prototypes and high-fidelity UI in Figma, within each client's design system and extending it where needed.
- Contribute to client workshops, design reviews and presentations, and explain your design rationale clearly.
- Use analytics, user research and test results to shape decisions, and propose A/B tests with marketing and optimisation colleagues.
- Work with developers, copywriters, strategists and product owners, checking builds against your designs before release.
- Design to WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards, with page performance and SEO in mind.
- Prototype ideas and journeys, share work early with the design and engineering teams, and contribute to shared patterns and ways of working.
Required profile
- Strong UX and UI skills: information architecture, user flows, wireframing, prototyping, visual design and responsive layout.
- Fluency in Figma, including components, auto layout and design systems.
- Experience presenting to and working directly with clients or senior stakeholders.
- Understanding of how design affects acquisition and conversion, and confidence using analytics and test data.
- Working knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and of what is practical to build in HTML and CSS.
- Fluent written and spoken English; comfortable working in the tobacco category.
- Nice to have: agency or consultancy experience, CRO/A/B testing or experimentation tool experience, CMS or component-based website design experience, motion or interaction design skills.
