Senior Technical Architect – Enterprise Integration

About the role

Johnson Controls is looking for a Senior Enterprise Integration Architect to join the Enterprise Integration Architecture team. You will design integration solutions, support API‑led reuse, and ensure project architectures align with the overall integration strategy as the company modernizes its platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design integration solutions and estimate implementation costs for EI projects.
• Support the API‑led design methodology to enable reuse of APIs across the landscape.
• Participate in integration strategy for new and existing applications, especially as the company moves to cloud platforms.
• Review and approve project integration technical architecture.
• Support monitoring strategy for integration platforms and contribute to continuous architectural improvements.
• Plan and implement upgrades and migrations of integration platforms in line with the technology roadmap.
• Create and maintain project plans, schedules, technical approaches, invoicing schedules, and risk management plans.
• Provide technical direction to external resources and communicate architecture activities to the EI Architecture team.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in IT or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of IT experience, including at least 3 years architecting integration solutions using APIs.
• At least 5 years of development experience on integration platforms.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence technical and business stakeholders.

Required skills

• Deep experience in integration and API architecture, including API design (RAML or OAS/Swagger).
• Azure Integration Services Platform – API Management, Logic Apps, ESB, Application Insights, Observability.
• Experience with integration patterns such as SFTP, EDI, and web services.
• Understanding of cloud concepts (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, iPaaS) and DevOps/CI‑CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of networking, VPC, VPN, load balancers, and security concepts (identity management, authentication, authorization, encryption).
• Familiarity with Agile delivery principles and quality software engineering practices.
• Nice to have: experience with MuleSoft or similar enterprise integration platforms and integration architecture certifications.
