Senior Software Engineer – MEAN Stack

About the role

Software Mind is looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to design, develop and maintain scalable software applications. The role centres on full-stack development with the MEAN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, Angular, Node.js), software architecture, database modernization and technical leadership. It involves working with cross-functional teams to build new solutions, improve existing applications and support data analytics and reporting. The position is full-time, long-term and remote, within the Eastern Time zone.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable, high-performance applications using the MEAN stack.
• Guide coding standards, architectural patterns, unit testing and development best practices.
• Collaborate with senior engineers on software architecture, review code, mentor engineers and lead refactoring, modernization and performance optimization.
• Develop proof-of-concept solutions and integrate RESTful APIs.
• Support database modernization with MongoDB and Microsoft SQL Server.
• Work with data and business teams on reporting, analytics and data integration using Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft Fabric.
• Evaluate technologies for scalability and maintainability, and ensure security standards, company policies and HIPAA/PHI compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 6-10 years of professional software development experience.
• Proven track record of delivering complex projects and mentoring engineers.
• Familiarity with Agile, Scrum and Jira.

Required skills

• Strong hands-on experience with the MEAN stack; advanced JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Backend services and RESTful APIs with Node.js and Express.js.
• MongoDB and Microsoft SQL Server, including schema design, stored procedures and query optimization.
• Microsoft Power BI (data modeling, semantic models, dashboards, reporting).
• Preferred: Microsoft Fabric, Docker, AWS or Azure, and experience with software modernization and database migration.
