Senior Site Reliability Engineer (Remote, Costa Rica)

About the role

A long-term remote contract is sought for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer based in Costa Rica. The role co-owns critical production service designs, drives reliability and observability improvements, and acts as point of contact for production application issues, working closely with engineering leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Co-own critical production service designs so that high reliability is achievable and measurable.
• Drive reliability and observability improvements across engineering verticals, using monitoring and telemetry data to identify reliability challenges and design solutions.
• Build and improve internal tools and automation software to make maintaining production services easier and safer.
• Lead practices such as failure analysis, load and capacity planning, service reviews, architecture designs and incident postmortems.
• Develop infrastructure as code and build SRE dashboards from SLIs to measure SLO adherence.
• Design and implement auto-healing and fault-tolerant systems.
• Act as point of contact for production application issues.

Required profile

• 5 years of experience, matching the level of an Infrastructure, SRE, DevOps or CloudOps role.
• Proven experience diagnosing and resolving indexing issues in relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle).
• Strong understanding of query optimization, execution plans and database internals; proficiency with tools such as pg_stat_statements, Percona Toolkit and SQL Profiler.
• Experience with Azure and cloud-performant microservices and event-driven architectures; Kubernetes administration is an added advantage.
• Distributed monitoring experience (logging, metrics, tracing) and knowledge of information security concepts.
• Experience leading and managing a small team.
