Senior Scala Backend Engineer – Cloud Data Platform

About the role

We are looking for a senior software engineer to design, build and maintain a modern, cloud‑native data processing platform. The role focuses on creating scalable backend services that handle large‑scale data workloads across AWS and Google Cloud environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend services using Scala.
• Build and enhance distributed systems for large‑scale data ingestion, transformation and analytics.
• Integrate with cloud services on AWS and Google Cloud Platform.
• Implement secure authentication and authorization using cloud‑native identity solutions.
• Develop and operate data pipelines supporting end‑to‑end data flows.
• Collaborate with architects, product owners and cross‑functional teams to define technical requirements.
• Ensure system reliability, observability, performance and operational excellence.
• Write clean, maintainable code, conduct code reviews and mentor junior engineers.
• Troubleshoot issues in distributed, cloud‑based environments and implement comprehensive testing strategies.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a senior backend engineer working with Scala.
• Strong background in building cloud‑native services on AWS and GCP.
• Experience with secure authentication/authorization mechanisms and identity services.
• Ability to work independently and within cross‑functional teams.
