Senior Program Manager – IT Projects

About the role

Smith and Nephew is seeking a Senior Program Manager to lead a portfolio of strategic technology projects in Alajuela, Costa Rica. The role ensures efficient, compliant delivery of initiatives that support the company’s IT strategy and business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Design, plan and execute programs in collaboration with Business Relationship Managers, defining budgets, timelines and resource plans.
• Lead a team of Project Managers, providing performance management and development.
• Coordinate with PPMO, Portfolio Managers, Service Delivery Leaders and cross‑functional teams to secure funding, resources and alignment.
• Manage program risks, issues and dependencies, and maintain transparent communication with stakeholders.
• Monitor financial performance, develop business models and ensure projects stay within scope, schedule and budget.
• Drive process improvements and champion successful project outcomes.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing large, complex technology programs or portfolios.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder‑management skills across all organizational levels.
• Ability to translate strategic goals into detailed execution plans.
• Excellent problem‑solving and decision‑making capabilities.
