Senior Modernization Engineer – AI Agent Solutions

About the role

Kyndryl is looking for a Senior Modernization Engineer to lead the design and deployment of autonomous AI agents for enterprise customers. In this hybrid, forward‑deployed position you will work closely with client teams, often on‑site, to translate complex business challenges into scalable AI solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Build autonomous agents using large language models (LLMs), planning algorithms, and decision‑making frameworks.
• Integrate agents into applications, APIs, and workflows such as copilots, chatbots, and automation tools.
• Connect agents to external services via APIs, databases, and cloud platforms.
• Tune agent behavior through reinforcement learning, semantic knowledge layers, and user feedback loops.
• Implement safety, reliability, and guardrail mechanisms, including security, rate limits, observability, and cost controls.
• Collaborate with researchers, engineers, and product teams to document agent logic and design decisions.
• Maintain the Enterprise Agents and Tools Registry and develop the Agent Communication Gateway.
• Apply AI agent orchestration patterns and workflow engines such as Temporal or Airflow.

• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work at speed in dynamic settings.
