Senior Java Engineer - Backend & Cloud

About the role

A company is looking for a Senior Java Engineer to join its development team. The role combines deep backend development and software architecture expertise with Java, some frontend exposure and cloud-based application development. It involves designing scalable, enterprise-grade applications, providing technical leadership and collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend services using Java (Spring Boot, Spring Batch)
• Work on Gradle-based projects and manage build configurations
• Develop and maintain frontend components using AngularJS
• Contribute to application development using Kotlin and Python where applicable
• Build and deploy applications on AWS cloud infrastructure
• Write efficient SQL queries and work with relational databases
• Take part in code reviews, debugging and performance optimization
• Collaborate with product managers, QA and other engineers to deliver high-quality solutions

Required profile

• 5+ years of software development experience, with a strong focus on Java engineering
• Deep expertise in software architecture: system design, architectural patterns, scalability, resiliency, performance and security trade-offs
• Fluent verbal and written English, able to communicate with business and technical stakeholders

Required skills

• Strong Java, especially Spring Boot and Spring Batch
• Gradle projects
• AngularJS for frontend development
• Kotlin and Python
• AWS services (deployment, monitoring or development)
• SQL and database management
• Familiarity with REST APIs and microservices architecture
• Nice to have: experience with AI coding assistants and generative AI tools
