Senior Fulfillment Engineer

About the role

Backcountry is seeking a Senior Fulfillment Engineer to own the architecture and evolution of its ecommerce fulfillment systems. You will drive hands‑on development for order management and warehouse management, while leveraging AI toolsets to boost engineering throughput and quality.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support ecommerce fulfillment platforms, including order and warehouse management components.
• Integrate AI toolsets to improve delivery speed, code quality, and system reliability.
• Collaborate with product and engineering leadership to deliver scalable, user‑focused features.
• Champion modern engineering practices such as clean architecture, unit testing, automation, performance optimization, and observability.
• Break down large initiatives into manageable chunks and communicate status, risks, and dependencies.
• Produce high‑quality documentation, diagrams, and onboarding material.
• Enhance monitoring, alerting, and incident response for mission‑critical services.
• Identify and refactor legacy components to reduce technical debt.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 10+ years of professional software development experience with a strong ecommerce background.
• Hands‑on experience using AI toolsets for development acceleration.
• Deep expertise in software architecture, distributed systems, and design patterns.
