Senior Financial Analyst, FP&A
BlueCat · San Jose
Job description
About the role
BlueCat, a PE-backed company that manages the network infrastructure powering enterprise digital transformation, is looking for a Senior Financial Analyst to act as the FP&A business partner to its Sales, Professional Services, Customer Success and Marketing leaders. You will own the monthly financial rhythm (variance analysis, reforecasting, stakeholder reviews), support Board reporting, and help build commercial and unit-economics analytics, including AI-enabled approaches.
Key responsibilities
- Act as the finance partner to the heads of Sales, PS, Customer Success and Marketing, supporting decisions on investment cases, hiring, program ROI, pricing, packaging, territory and capacity.
- Own monthly actual-vs-budget/forecast variance analysis, explain drivers in business terms and lead monthly reviews with each business partner.
- Lead the reforecast cycle for headcount, variable costs, commissions and program spend, documenting assumptions and keeping them aligned with the top-line forecast.
- Prepare Board, sponsor and executive reporting, including commentary, KPI packages and ad hoc requests.
- Support the annual budget process with documented assumptions.
- Build and maintain commercial and unit-economics metrics such as CAC and LTV, bookings vs. OTE, ARR renewal coverage (GRR/NRR), PS utilization and profitability, and hardware margins.
- Partner with Sales, RevOps and Finance on commission plan analysis, cost modeling and attainment tracking.
- Redesign manual FP&A workflows and experiment with AI tools and automation to speed analysis and reporting.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field.
- 4-6 years of progressive experience in FP&A, corporate finance or business partnering; SaaS or technology company experience strongly preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication, able to explain complex results to non-finance leaders and the Board.
- Highly responsive, turning around questions quickly and keeping stakeholders informed.
- Proven ability to turn data into clear recommendations and present to senior leaders.
- Curiosity and hands-on attitude toward AI and automation; self-starter comfortable with ambiguity.
- Nice to have: experience with an FP&A tool (Pigment, Anaplan, Adaptive), an ERP (NetSuite) and a CRM (Salesforce), and experience with PE-backed or sponsor-reporting environments.
Required skills
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling (required).
- Understanding of SaaS metrics and subscription economics (ARR, bookings, retention, CAC/LTV).
- Knowledge of how Sales, Marketing, Professional Services and Customer Success operate.
What we offer
- Professional development budget.
- Dedicated wellness days and wellness week.
- Lifestyle spending account.
- Employee recognition program.
