Senior Backend Engineer (Java/Kotlin)

About the role

Coforge is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to design, develop and maintain reliable backend solutions. The position is remote and open to candidates based in Costa Rica.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain reliable backend solutions using modern programming languages such as Java or Kotlin.
• Contribute to the development and operation of large-scale, high-performance and resilient systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust technical solutions.
• Continuously learn, adapt and take on new technical challenges in a dynamic environment.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field with at least 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree with no prior experience.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills in English, able to work across teams.
• Curiosity and willingness to learn and adapt.
• Preferred: advanced degree and exposure to large-scale, high-performance backend environments.

Required skills

• Proficiency in one or more modern backend languages such as Java, Kotlin or similar.
• Experience building and operating large-scale, high-performance and resilient systems.
