Risk Management & Compliance Officer (UN Migration)

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Risk Management and Compliance Officer to support its Costa Rica office. Reporting to the Chief of Mission and working closely with the Head of Resources Management and the Head of Programs, you will help develop and implement risk and compliance systems that safeguard resources and ensure adherence to financial regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate regular identification of risks, maintain and update risk registers, and monitor the implementation of risk treatment plans.
• Support management in embedding risk management into planning, resource allocation, and decision‑making across all units.
• Collect, analyse, and prepare risk information to inform internal decision‑making.
• Collaborate with Programme Managers and the Risk Management Unit to ensure all project activities include relevant compliance and control information.
• Monitor compliance with internal policies and external financial regulations, providing accurate reporting and transparent resource use.

Required profile

• Experience in risk management, compliance, or internal control within an international or public‑sector environment.
• Strong understanding of financial regulations and UN/International standards.
• Ability to work under the supervision of senior leadership while coordinating with multiple stakeholders.
• Excellent analytical and reporting skills.
