Remote Mechanical Design / CAD Expert (Contract)

About the role

A remote contract position for a mechanical design and CAD expert, working 10 to 40 hours per week. The role covers mechanical design input, review of engineering drawings and guidance on manufacturing engineering.

Key responsibilities

• Provide detailed input on mechanical design solutions using advanced CAD tools.
• Evaluate and critique engineering drawings for accuracy and manufacturability.
• Assess and recommend design for manufacturability and tolerance analysis practices.
• Contribute insights on engineering mechanics and geometric modeling challenges.
• Review and improve graphics and geometric modeling of assemblies.
• Offer guidance on manufacturing engineering best practices and simulate design scenarios.

Required profile

• Strong relevant experience in production design with GD&T and DFM principles.
• Experience in manufacturing engineering and end-to-end product development.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to explain technical concepts.

Required skills

• Proficiency with industry-standard CAD platforms such as SolidWorks, CATIA or NX.
• Strong understanding of tribology, engineering mechanics and geometric dimensioning.
