About the role
We are seeking an experienced Regulatory Affairs Consultant to lead the regulatory strategy and product registration process for a new premium sports nutrition and dietary supplements brand launching in Costa Rica. This contract position will work closely with company leadership, international manufacturers, logistics providers, and external partners to ensure full compliance and market readiness.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and execute end‑to‑end regulatory strategy for importing and commercializing dietary supplements in Costa Rica.
- Prepare and submit product registrations to the Ministry of Health.
- Review formulations, ingredient lists, labels, nutritional information, and marketing claims for compliance.
- Identify regulatory risks and propose compliant alternatives.
- Define documentation requirements for international manufacturers and coordinate collection of certificates (Free Sale, Analysis, GMP, etc.).
- Liaise with government authorities, customs brokers, logistics providers, and testing laboratories throughout the approval process.
- Monitor regulatory changes affecting dietary supplements and advise on implications for future launches.
Required profile
- 5+ years of experience in Regulatory Affairs, preferably in food, dietary supplements, nutraceuticals, or pharmaceuticals.
- Proven track record obtaining product registrations in Costa Rica.
- Strong knowledge of Costa Rican regulations for imported food and dietary supplements.
- Experience working directly with the Ministry of Health and other regulatory bodies.
- Professional proficiency in Spanish and intermediate to advanced English.
