Product Designer / UX Designer

About the role

Software Mind, a team of engineers building projects for other companies, is looking for a Product Designer / UX Designer in San José. You will design end-to-end multi-step workflows, personalized recommendations and monetized components, and work closely with Product Managers and engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Design end-to-end multi-step workflows (quizzes, questionnaires, guided finders, eligibility and matching flows) that feel simple and engaging.
• Create personalized recommendation experiences that present tailored results clearly and help members make confident decisions.
• Design monetized components (recommendation cards, product modules, offers, calls to action) that fit into AI/LLM experiences such as chat interfaces and AI-generated responses.
• Map user flows, branching logic, edge cases and error or empty states.
• Create mockups, wireframes and high-fidelity prototypes in Figma for stakeholder feedback.
• Collaborate with the Product Manager and partner with engineers, data and personalization teams to deliver precise specifications.
• Incorporate business goals (conversion, completion rate, drop-off, engagement) and iterate based on data and feedback.

Required profile

• Strong product design / UX design experience with a product-first mindset and strong UI and visual design skills.
• Proven experience designing multi-step workflows such as onboarding flows, configurators, quizzes, applications or decision tools.
• Experience designing personalized or recommendation-driven experiences.
• Interest in or experience with AI/LLM experiences such as conversational interfaces and components inside AI-generated content.
• Comfortable in lean, fast-paced startup environments.

Required skills

• Expertise in modern, accessible design and accessibility standards.
• Establishing design systems that ensure consistency across experiences.
• Nice to have: experience with financial-product websites or apps, lead-generation or affiliate experiences, A/B testing, SEO UX optimization, and knowledge of how LLM products surface content or sponsored results.
